About the Conquer the Canyon

The course runs through Redmond's Dry Canyon Trail, a nature preserve with steep volcanic rock walls and high desert scenery, then loops into the town center past pavilions and historic landmarks. The contrast is striking: raw canyon geology one moment, traditional downtown the next. Several distance options are available, including a dog-friendly run.

Packet pickup happens the evening before the race at a downtown hotel, with a race-morning option available for those who cannot make it. The start line, finish, and post-race party are all in Centennial Park. There is music, food, and drink at the finish.

Common Questions About the Conquer the Canyon

Will I finish last at the Conquer the Canyon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:30, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Conquer the Canyon a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (156 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Conquer the Canyon?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:22 while the median finisher took 34:30. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
