About the Concord California Turkey Trot 5K

The course at Newhall Park covers a little of everything: grass fields, paved park paths, and city streets. That mix of surfaces keeps the route interesting and means conditions underfoot can change depending on the weather. The race runs on Thanksgiving morning, rain or shine, so dress for whatever the day brings.

Strollers and dogs are welcome, though both are asked to line up at the back of the starting area to keep things moving for those racing for time.

Common Questions About the Concord California Turkey Trot 5K

Will I finish last at the Concord California Turkey Trot 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 42:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:37:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Concord California Turkey Trot 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 1,968 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Concord California Turkey Trot 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:11 while the median finisher took 42:11. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
