About the Come on Over 5K and 2.1 Mile Fitness Walk

The course runs through Portland Riverfront Park along Brownstone Avenue, so there is water nearby for most of the route. The walk option covers a shorter out-and-back while the longer distance follows the same general stretch of riverside terrain. Both start and finish at the park, which keeps things simple and easy to navigate for anyone coming to cheer.

Bibs and timing chips are handled on race morning before the start, so you do not need to make a separate trip the day before. Proceeds go toward local parks programs and camp scholarships, which gives the whole morning a neighborhood-fundraiser feel rather than a commercial one.

Common Questions About the Come on Over 5K and 2.1 Mile Fitness Walk

Will I finish last at the Come on Over 5K and 2.1 Mile Fitness Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 46:40, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Come on Over 5K and 2.1 Mile Fitness Walk a good first 5K?

It is a small race (100 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Come on Over 5K and 2.1 Mile Fitness Walk?

The 5K winner ran 19:23 while the median finisher took 31:20. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
