About the Colors 4 Cancer 5K/1M/Virtual

This is a color run, meaning you cross the finish line dusted in powder thrown at various points along the course. The race honors people affected by cancer, and the field tends to include both runners chasing a time and people walking together in someone's name. A virtual option lets people participate from wherever they are, running their own route during the week of the event.

Packet pickup happens at the CarolinaEast Foundation office on Neuse Boulevard the evening before race day. Virtual participants can either pick up there or have their packets shipped ahead of time.

Common Questions About the Colors 4 Cancer 5K/1M/Virtual

Will I finish last at the Colors 4 Cancer 5K/1M/Virtual?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 47:48, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:24:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Colors 4 Cancer 5K/1M/Virtual a good first 5K?

A field of 281 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Colors 4 Cancer 5K/1M/Virtual?

The 5K winner ran 17:58 while the median finisher took 47:48. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
