About the Colorado Coyotes Youth XC Invitational

The course at deKoevend Park mixes grass and crushed dirt with a few sidewalk crossings and enough rolling hills to make the legs work. It is a youth cross country meet, so the atmosphere runs toward excited kids and parents camped out with lawn chairs rather than anything resembling a road race.

Packet pickup opens early on race morning at Shelter C, which is also the start and finish area. Parking is available in the recreation center lot right next to the park, with overflow options nearby including a lot across a bridge that connects to a trail leading in.

Common Questions About the Colorado Coyotes Youth XC Invitational

Will I finish last at the Colorado Coyotes Youth XC Invitational?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3K field finished slower than 14:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 28:02, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Colorado Coyotes Youth XC Invitational a good first 3K?

It is a small race (84 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Colorado Coyotes Youth XC Invitational?

The 3K winner ran 10:46 while the median finisher took 14:27. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
