About the Colorado 24 Hour Run

The course is a dirt loop at Colorado Youth Outdoors' Swift Ponds Campus, and you run it as many times as you want within your chosen duration. The terrain is flat and entirely unpaved, passing ponds where raptors, cranes, and waterfowl are common company. Solo runners and relay teams share the same loop, drawing a wide range of approaches.

The aid station runs hot food through the full event, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options alongside the standard fare. Race photos are taken on course, and results update in real time so crew and teammates can follow along. The daylight-to-dark shift is part of the experience, and the clocks stay on race time through the overnight hours.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Colorado 24 Hour Run

Will I finish last at the Colorado 24 Hour Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 16:59:15, and the last recorded finisher came in around 23:57:26, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Colorado 24 Hour Run a good first race?

It is a small race (51 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Colorado 24 Hour Run?

The race winner ran 6:44:56 while the median finisher took 16:59:15. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
