About the Run for Nash 5k/10k, Kids Dash for Nash

This race is a benefit for a local family whose young son was diagnosed with Vanishing White Matter Disease, an extremely rare and terminal neurological condition. The entry fees go directly to the family and toward research funding. A kids dash with color is part of the morning, and parents can run alongside their children.

The race is rooted in the Tuscola community and exists because neighbors wanted to do something concrete for one of their own. Post-race awards cover overall and age group placers across both distances, and finisher recognition is part of the day for the kids event as well.

Common Questions About the Run for Nash 5k/10k, Kids Dash for Nash

Will I finish last at the Run for Nash 5k/10k, Kids Dash for Nash?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 39:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:47, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run for Nash 5k/10k, Kids Dash for Nash a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (136 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run for Nash 5k/10k, Kids Dash for Nash?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 19:02 while the median finisher took 39:37. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
