About the 13th Annual Cocoa Cup 5K

The Cocoa Cup runs through Summerville at Brown Family Park Nexton, finishing with hot cocoa waiting at the end. The course is open to strollers, and a kids' fun run runs separately before the main event. The whole morning leans into the holiday season, with a costume contest and a photo booth set up with Santa and his crew.

Packet pickup happens at Fleet Feet locations on the two evenings before the race, with a final window at the park on race morning under the Fleet Feet tents. Post-race activities include the cocoa, an awards ceremony, and the costume contest results. Proceeds go to several local organizations, including a food bank.

Common Questions About the 13th Annual Cocoa Cup 5K

Will I finish last at the 13th Annual Cocoa Cup 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 37:16, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 13th Annual Cocoa Cup 5K a good first 5K?

With 1,613 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 13th Annual Cocoa Cup 5K?

The 5K winner ran 16:23 while the median finisher took 37:16. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
