About the Coastal Walk & 5K Run
The race splits into two routes from Assateague State Park. Runners start on a paved bike path before the course turns onto the beach, heading north along the shore. You can stay close to the water on packed sand or drift toward the dunes for a softer, harder pull. The walk stays entirely on the paved path, out and back through the campground area.
Registration opens before the start, with refreshments and music already going when you arrive. Post-race awards go to top finishers by category. The start area is at the campground day-use section along the main highway into the park.
