About the City of Upland Turkey Trot 5K & Kids 1K

The course starts and finishes at San Antonio Park, and the event is organized by the city's recreation department alongside the local high school cross country team. Proceeds support that team, so there is a genuine local stake built into the morning. A kids dash runs before the main race, which keeps the start area busy early.

Bib pickup runs the afternoon before at a community building on San Bernardino Road, which is worth knowing if you want to skip the morning check-in line. The event goes ahead regardless of weather.

Common Questions About the City of Upland Turkey Trot 5K & Kids 1K

Will I finish last at the City of Upland Turkey Trot 5K & Kids 1K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:28, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:26, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the City of Upland Turkey Trot 5K & Kids 1K a good first 5K?

A field of 644 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the City of Upland Turkey Trot 5K & Kids 1K?

The 5K winner ran 17:09 while the median finisher took 36:28. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
