About the City of Trees Marathon

The course runs along the Boise Greenbelt, tracing the river as it moves through a rocky canyon and into the city. The path is close enough to the water that you can hear it for much of the run. Wildlife is genuinely possible out there, and route changes can happen if flooding or construction forces a detour.

Packet pickup is spread across a few days before the race, with stops at a local running store and a nearby brewery. The brewery also serves as the race-day hub, and parking is available around there on race morning.

Common Questions About the City of Trees Marathon

Will I finish last at the City of Trees Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:16:34, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:33:51, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the City of Trees Marathon a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 715 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the City of Trees Marathon?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:16:38 while the median finisher took 2:16:34. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
