About the City of Rockmart - "Running for a Paws" 5K
The course starts at a downtown street intersection facing the old City Hall, threads through surface streets, then picks up the Silver Comet Trail for an out-and-back stretch past the Vinson Mountain Trailhead. The trail section is notably flat and quick underfoot. Proceeds benefit the local police department's canine fund, which gives the race a specific purpose beyond the miles.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at the Rockmart Police Department headquarters. On race morning, parking is available downtown on a first-come basis, with an overflow city lot across Euharlee Creek from the start. The finish line sits along the trail near Veterans Plaza, and awards are handed out there once the field is in.
