About the Circle the Bay

The course runs a long loop from Ferry Road Park through the waterfront of a neighboring city and back. The terrain shifts as you go: the opening stretch is mostly flat, the middle section rolls gently, and the final leg has real climbing in it. You can take on the whole distance solo or split it into legs with a team.

Common Questions About the Circle the Bay

Will I finish last at the Circle the Bay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 30K field finished slower than 2:47:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:01:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Circle the Bay a good first 30K?

It is a small race (27 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 30K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Circle the Bay?

The 30K winner ran 1:50:23 while the median finisher took 2:47:21. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
