About the Chisholm Trail Trot 5K

The course runs on grass through a cross-country layout, and part of the route actually crosses the historic Chisholm Trail itself. The terrain is open and natural underfoot, the kind of surface that rewards trail shoes over road flats. Cash prizes go to top finishers across age divisions, so there is a competitive edge here beyond what a typical local road race carries.

The race lands on the same morning as Clearwater's Annual Fall Festival, and the parade kicks off shortly after the race ends. A kids fun run is also part of the morning. If you are bringing family, there is a full day's worth of activity built around the race.

Common Questions About the Chisholm Trail Trot 5K

Will I finish last at the Chisholm Trail Trot 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 46:20, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Chisholm Trail Trot 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (49 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Chisholm Trail Trot 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:50 while the median finisher took 30:05. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
