About the ChesLen Chase

The ChesLen Chase runs through a Natural Lands preserve outside Coatesville. The trail surface and the surrounding conservation land give it the feel of a run through working nature rather than a groomed park course. There are distance options for adults and younger runners, so families tend to show up together.

After the race, there is a food truck and craft beer, with music and an awards ceremony rounding out the morning. It is a post-race setup that gives you a reason to stick around rather than head straight to the car.

Common Questions About the ChesLen Chase

Will I finish last at the ChesLen Chase?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:39, and the last recorded finisher came in around 57:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the ChesLen Chase a good first 5K?

It is a small race (69 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the ChesLen Chase?

The 5K winner ran 21:38 while the median finisher took 33:39. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
