About the Cerro Gordo Silver Run 2027
The road climbs straight up a historic mining route from the edge of a small desert town to a ghost town at the summit. It is relentless and exposed, gaining elevation the whole way with no flat stretches to recover on. The surroundings shift from the dry Owens Valley floor to high mountain air as the old mule-train road winds toward the abandoned buildings above.
Parking is available in Keeler the morning of the race, with volunteers directing traffic on arrival. After finishing, shuttle vans bring runners back down to the start. Spectators can ride those same vans up before the race to watch at the finish line. There is a mountaintop barbecue at the top, with food, drinks, and live music among the historic structures.
