About the CCVI Trolley Run

The course runs through the Waldo and Brookside neighborhoods and finishes on the Country Club Plaza, so the surroundings shift from residential streets to one of Kansas City's more recognizable commercial districts. The route is a point-to-point, which means the finish area has a different energy than the start, and the Plaza crowd tends to fill in as the morning goes on.

Packet pickup is at a local running store at Ward Parkway Center in the days before the race. Race morning pickup is available in front of a Plaza restaurant, but the organizers are direct that early lines can be long and that you need your bib to board the shuttle. Parking is on the Plaza, with shuttle service running to the start area at Wornall.

Finish-Time Stats

Common Questions About the CCVI Trolley Run

Will I finish last at the CCVI Trolley Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4 Miles field finished slower than 44:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:40:53, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the CCVI Trolley Run a good first 4 Miles?

With 2,170 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the CCVI Trolley Run?

The 4 Miles winner ran 17:35 while the median finisher took 44:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
