About the Catch the Falcon 5K Run and Walk

The course runs along paved roads around the Daytona State College campus, starting and finishing at the soccer stadium. It is part of the college's homecoming weekend, so there is a campus-event feel to the morning, with post-race refreshments waiting at the finish.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the soccer stadium, during a homecoming social, with a race-morning window available as well. Parking near the start and finish is free, and the organizers ask that you leave time to park and get your bib before the gun goes off.

Common Questions About the Catch the Falcon 5K Run and Walk

Will I finish last at the Catch the Falcon 5K Run and Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:07, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Catch the Falcon 5K Run and Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (111 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Catch the Falcon 5K Run and Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:30 while the median finisher took 36:21. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
