About the Carter Creek Wine Run 5k

The course starts and finishes at the winery, running a couple of loops across a mix of grass and paved roads. The terrain keeps things honest, so this is not the place to chase a personal best, but the surroundings are pleasant and the pace of the morning suits that. Wine is part of the finish-line spread.

Packet pickup opens on race morning, about an hour before the start, right at the winery. No need to make a separate trip the day before.

Common Questions About the Carter Creek Wine Run 5k

Will I finish last at the Carter Creek Wine Run 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 41:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:18:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Carter Creek Wine Run 5k a good first 5K?

A field of 230 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Carter Creek Wine Run 5k?

The 5K winner ran 23:22 while the median finisher took 41:59. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
