About the Carl's 5K and Fall Fest
The course winds through a working animal sanctuary outside Oxford, with rescued animals along the route. It is a loop around the sanctuary grounds, so there is always something to look at beyond the trail itself. Walkers and strollers are genuinely welcome here, not as an afterthought. Those who cannot attend in person can run the course on their own time through a virtual entry.
At the finish, Cinnaholic has cinnamon rolls waiting. The post-race festival includes cider and pumpkin painting, and you can wander the sanctuary afterward to spend time with the animals. The whole event grew out of a birthday tradition for a Holstein named Carl, the first cow rescued by the sanctuary, and that origin still shapes the tone of the day.
