About the Canton Fall Classic

The courses start in front of a temple on Washington St. and head out through residential streets with rolling terrain in the early going. Sherman St. offers a gentle downhill before Washington St. delivers a real hill near the finish, one that earns its reputation on the second loop if you are running the longer distance.

Parking is available in the Draper Mfg. lot nearby, with overflow directed to Chapman St., where only one side of the street is open to race traffic. The start area doubles as the finish, so your car is close to both.

Common Questions About the Canton Fall Classic

Will I finish last at the Canton Fall Classic?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 29:08, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:31:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Canton Fall Classic a good first 5K?

It is a small race (191 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Canton Fall Classic?

The 5K winner ran 16:57 while the median finisher took 29:08. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
