About the 18th Annual Canine Classic at Paws Up

The course runs through the resort property at Paws Up, mixing designated trails with stretches of dirt road. Footing gets uneven through the pasture sections, so expect some rough ground underfoot. Dogs are welcome and can run off-leash across the whole course, which is kept trap-free. Several distance options are available, from a short loop up to a half-marathon, plus an untimed hike.

A gourmet picnic lunch from the resort kitchen is waiting at the finish. The event is cupless, so bring a vessel for aid stations along the way. Proceeds support Working Dogs for Conservation, and a matching gift pledge doubles what participants raise through registration and donations.

Common Questions About the 18th Annual Canine Classic at Paws Up

Will I finish last at the 18th Annual Canine Classic at Paws Up?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5 Miles field finished slower than 1:26:34, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:42:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 18th Annual Canine Classic at Paws Up a good first 5 Miles?

It is a small race (50 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 18th Annual Canine Classic at Paws Up?

The 5 Miles winner ran 52:41 while the median finisher took 1:26:34. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
