About the Campus to Campus Challenge

The route starts at Anniversary Park, heads out along roads to the Baylor campus, then continues on flat trails to the MCC campus before looping back to where it started. You can run the full out-and-back or stop after the first campus leg if that is all you want. The course stays open to traffic throughout, so road-running habits apply.

This is essentially the Waco Striders' regular group run, dressed up with chip timing and refreshments at the finish. Membership in the club is required, but you can join during registration. There is no entry fee.

Common Questions About the Campus to Campus Challenge

Will I finish last at the Campus to Campus Challenge?

Almost certainly not. Half the 9 Miles field finished slower than 1:30:16, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:36:16, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Campus to Campus Challenge a good first 9 Miles?

It is a small race (19 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 9 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Campus to Campus Challenge?

The 9 Miles winner ran 1:07:23 while the median finisher took 1:30:16. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
