About the Burros in the Pines
This is a pack burro race through Fort Tuthill County Park, run on trail through the pines around Flagstaff. Each team is one person and one burro, moving together on foot, no riding allowed. The longer course requires a pack saddle carrying a pick, a gold pan, and a shovel, honoring the mining history these animals are part of. Hoof boots are recommended.
Every runner needs a burro secured before signing up. If you do not own one, rentals may be available through a separate list of providers, at an additional cost. The race benefits a local donkey rescue and sanctuary, so the animals that make the event possible are also its cause.
