About the Bunny Hop 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run

The course runs along the Portsmouth waterfront, so you get water views for most of the race. The terrain is flat throughout, which makes it a good morning for a fast effort if that is what you are after. The post-race gathering moves into the Portsmouth Pavilion, where there are family activities, dancing, and refreshments.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local children's museum. On race morning, registration and pickup open at the Portsmouth Pavilion, which is also the post-race hub, so you do not have to wander far between any part of the day.

Common Questions About the Bunny Hop 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Bunny Hop 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 37:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:02:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Bunny Hop 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (183 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Bunny Hop 5K & 1 Mile Family Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 19:05 while the median finisher took 37:05. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
