About the 21st Annual Buffalo Creek Half Marathon
The Butler Freeport Community Trail carries this point-to-point course from Cabot Methodist Church down to the Allegheny River, finishing under a highway bridge at the former Butler Junction. Almost all of it runs on crushed limestone, and the route trends gently downhill the whole way, which is why so many runners here turn in their fastest half marathon times. Fall foliage lines the trail on both sides.
The church at the start handles race-morning packet pickup, and there is also pre-race pickup at a local running store in Valencia earlier in the week. Parking at the church is volunteer-directed, with overflow at a nearby fire department. Since it is a point-to-point, shuttles run continuously from the finish back to the start parking lot.
