About the BTC Vulcan Run

Both distances start and finish in front of City Hall in downtown Homewood, looping out through residential neighborhoods before coming back to the same spot. The courses are USATF certified. The terrain rolls through quiet streets, the kind of route that feels more like a neighborhood run than a closed-off highway race.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a local running store nearby, which the organizers recommend to avoid congestion on race morning. Race-day pickup opens early at Rosewood Hall, close to the start.

Common Questions About the BTC Vulcan Run

Will I finish last at the BTC Vulcan Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 56:16, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:58:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the BTC Vulcan Run a good first 10K?

A field of 489 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the BTC Vulcan Run?

The 10K winner ran 30:51 while the median finisher took 56:16. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
