About the BRRC St. Paddy’s Five Miler

This one is set at Spokane Community College and runs an out-and-back route, so you retrace your steps on the same path you came in on. The course is a qualifier for Bloomsday seeding, which draws a serious mid-pack alongside the casual crowd. It has a St. Paddy's Day theme, and the morning leans into it.

Packet pickup runs the day before at a fitness center across town, with race-morning pickup available at the college. Restrooms are in the gymnasium building near the start. There is water at the finish and at the turnaround point. Stick around after the race for age group awards and a cash prize drawing, but you have to be present to win.

Common Questions About the BRRC St. Paddy’s Five Miler

Will I finish last at the BRRC St. Paddy’s Five Miler?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5 Miles field finished slower than 46:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:57:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the BRRC St. Paddy’s Five Miler a good first 5 Miles?

It is a small race (197 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the BRRC St. Paddy’s Five Miler?

The 5 Miles winner ran 27:04 while the median finisher took 46:21. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
