About the BRRC Cross Country Series

This is a cross country series where the course is whatever dirt, grass, or off-road terrain is underfoot that day. The name ties back to an original in-person location, but the format puts you on natural ground rather than pavement. It runs in the fall, and the feel is closer to a training run with friends than a road race.

Common Questions About the BRRC Cross Country Series

Will I finish last at the BRRC Cross Country Series?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 25:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the BRRC Cross Country Series a good first 5K?

It is a small race (63 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the BRRC Cross Country Series?

The 5K winner ran 18:06 while the median finisher took 25:02. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
