About the Bright Ideas 5K
The course runs through Cypress Gardens, a preserve outside of Moncks Corner with water, cypress trees, and varied terrain underfoot. It is genuinely challenging, not a flat neighborhood loop, and the road into the gardens is part of the route itself, which gives the surroundings a different feel than a typical park race.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup available at the gardens until the road closes for the start. Parking at Cypress Gardens is tight, so carpooling helps; a shuttle runs from a remote lot nearby for those who need it.
