About the Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Run
Both courses start at Morro Rock and head north along the shoreline toward Cayucos Pier. The shorter run finishes at the pier; the half marathon turns around and comes back, with a detour through a park near the end. The path runs close to the water, and the organizers warn to expect wet shoes. Dogs are not permitted on the course during nesting season.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Morro Bay Community Center, with a race-morning option at the Morro Rock parking lot. Parking is tight in Cayucos, so most runners leave their cars at Morro Rock from the start. After the race, there are pancakes, sausage, fruit, juice, and coffee at the finish area. Bus transport brings shorter-course finishers back from the pier.
