About the Brew Run

The course starts and finishes on Bank Street in downtown New London, running flat through the city streets. A kids run goes off first, with the main race following shortly after, so the start area tends to have a mix of little ones finishing up as adults are warming up nearby.

Bib pickup opens on-site the morning of the race, with a window before the first wave starts. The start and finish are at the same downtown street address, so there is no shuttle or second-car situation to worry about. An awards ceremony wraps things up not long after the last runners finish.

Common Questions About the Brew Run

Will I finish last at the Brew Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:50, and the last recorded finisher came in around 56:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Brew Run a good first 5K?

A field of 213 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Brew Run?

The 5K winner ran 17:33 while the median finisher took 31:50. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
