About the 15th Annual Breeze in the Trees 5k

The course runs on dirt roads through pecan orchards, part of a series that takes runners through the same farm at different points in the growing season. This edition happens early in the morning during summer, when the trees are in full leaf and the pecans have grown to their full size but are not yet ready to harvest. It is a rare chance to move through a working farm.

The local firefighters association sets up a pancake breakfast after the finish, topped with pecans from the surrounding orchards. Bib pickup opens well before the start, so there is no need to rush. The course runs on private dirt roads, and pets are not allowed out there.

Common Questions About the 15th Annual Breeze in the Trees 5k

Will I finish last at the 15th Annual Breeze in the Trees 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:18:36, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 15th Annual Breeze in the Trees 5k a good first 5K?

A field of 263 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 15th Annual Breeze in the Trees 5k?

The 5K winner ran 18:25 while the median finisher took 36:23. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
