The Bow Wow Dash raises money for a local animal rescue organization, and dogs are welcome on the course as long as they are leashed. Runners who bring their dogs start at the back of the field, though chip timing means that does not cost them anything on the clock. The race has age division awards alongside overall prizes.
After the race, the event opens into a street-fair style gathering with food trucks, live music, and vendors. It is worth planning to stay a while.
