About the Boo! On Broad

The race runs along Broad Street and finishes in front of an elementary school gym. Halloween is the whole point: costumes are expected, and prizes go to the best ones. The course is short and street-based, and the race feeds directly into the neighborhood's Halloween festivities later that morning.

Proceeds support running clubs at two local schools, covering gear and equipment for the student members. Both races start on Broad Street, so the start area is easy to find, and the finish puts you right back in the middle of town as the holiday crowds begin to gather.

Common Questions About the Boo! On Broad

Will I finish last at the Boo! On Broad?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:46, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Boo! On Broad a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (144 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Boo! On Broad?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:20 while the median finisher took 36:46. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
