About the Boo Bash Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run

The course runs along the Olentangy Trail from Tuttle Park, so the footing is paved and the surroundings are natural rather than urban, even though you are close to campus. It is a Halloween-themed race, and the university's mascot is on hand to send runners off at the start.

Several parking garages sit within easy walking distance of the start, and Ohio Stadium parking is another option. Post-race, there are snacks and refreshments, plus a raffle with prizes from local businesses. Age group winners receive gift cards.

Common Questions About the Boo Bash Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Boo Bash Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 51:33, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Boo Bash Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (59 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Boo Bash Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 19:45 while the median finisher took 30:23. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
