About the Bob Alvarez Run For Your Health Prediction 5K and the Lyle Smith Fun Runs (half mile and mile)
The 5K is a prediction run, meaning you race without a watch and try to finish as close to your forecasted time as possible. It starts at Fairview Elementary School on Blosser Road and runs a fast, flat course. The shorter fun runs are GLOW runs held in the school's side parking lot after dark, one open to any age and a half-mile aimed at younger kids.
The event benefits the school's running club and a reading award program, so the post-race crowd skews young and local. Prizes go to the runners whose finish times come closest to their predictions, plus top overall finishers in the 5K.
