About the Black Squirrel Half Marathon
The course runs through Lory State Park, tracing the outer edges of the park on a mix of dirt road and singletrack. After a gentle opening stretch, the trail climbs steadily to the west ridge, where you get long views over Horsetooth Reservoir and out toward the plains. The descent is fast and runnable, and the final stretch back to the finish is smooth, hardpacked singletrack.
Packet pickup is available on race morning at the start inside Lory State Park. After the race, there is a pancake breakfast with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. Entry to the park is covered for the day, so no need to budget for that at the gate.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
