About the Birdie Derby 5k/10k Run/Walk
The Birdie Derby runs on Thanksgiving morning out of a business park in Fitchburg, with separate waves for the longer and shorter courses so the roads stay manageable. The race supports a local youth organization, and that mission is front and center rather than just a footnote. A kids dash kicks off the morning before the main waves go out.
Packet pickup runs the two days before Thanksgiving, which means most people arrive race morning without anything to carry. Afterward, there is coffee, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, bananas, and glazed doughnuts from Kwik Trip, all gathered in what the organizers call the Birdie Derby Village. Race photos are included, and timing is handled professionally on a certified course.
