About the Bigfoot Classic - Austin

The Bigfoot Classic runs through a northeast metro park, with terrain that reads as classic Texas parkland: wooded stretches, open paths, and enough natural scenery to give the course some character. Several distance options mean runners at very different fitness levels are out on the same course at the same time, and the atmosphere skews more playful than serious.

A DJ keeps music going at the start and finish area, and every runner gets announced by name as they come in. There is a costume contest for anyone willing to show up dressed as a mythical creature, with the winner chosen by the crowd. Post-race snacks and drinks are set up at a rally tent near the finish.

Common Questions About the Bigfoot Classic - Austin

Will I finish last at the Bigfoot Classic - Austin?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 36:24, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:17:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Bigfoot Classic - Austin a good first 3.11 Miles?

A field of 236 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Bigfoot Classic - Austin?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 19:04 while the median finisher took 36:24. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
