About the Bigfoot 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

This is a night race built around glow gear. Runners show up in light-up shoes, LED bracelets, and face paint, and the course runs after dark on paved and gravel surfaces. Somewhere along the way, Bigfoot himself reportedly makes an appearance. The race supports a local organization working on housing for neighbors in the area.

Strollers are welcome, and so are walkers. Timing is manual, so you get a finish time but not a chip result. The entry fee benefits Creative Compassion, and the whole evening has more in common with a neighborhood gathering than a traditional race.

Common Questions About the Bigfoot 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Bigfoot 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 39:43, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Bigfoot 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (93 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Bigfoot 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 18:00 while the median finisher took 39:43. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
