The Big Nut Strut starts and finishes in front of a local elementary school on North Miller Drive. It benefits the parent-teacher organizations across the Big Walnut school district, from preschool through high school. The course is a road race through the neighborhood around the school, and the crowd skews heavily toward families with kids from those schools.
