About the Bedrock Valley Trail Runs

The courses here run around Diamond Valley Lake, where the ground beneath the water holds the remains of mastodons and other Ice Age animals. That history gives the place an unusual weight. The terrain is mostly flat along the lake bed, with some double-track sections on the longer routes. Several distance options are available, from a short out-and-back to a full marathon loop.

This is a cupless event, so bring a handheld bottle or vest with your own hydration. Packet pickup is offered at a local running store in Temecula in the days before the race, or on race morning before your start. Carpooling is strongly encouraged; parking is public and open, but the organizers ask runners to share rides when possible.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Bedrock Valley Trail Runs

Will I finish last at the Bedrock Valley Trail Runs?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 42:29, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:16:20, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Bedrock Valley Trail Runs a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (122 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Bedrock Valley Trail Runs?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 21:07 while the median finisher took 42:29. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
