About the Beat the Manure 5K at the Guilford Fair

The course runs through the Guilford Fair on pavement, dirt roads, and trail sections that shift underfoot as you go. The first half climbs steadily, the second half rolls back down, and there is one brief rise close to the finish before an open, fast finish stretch. Age group prizes go to top finishers, and the last person across the line takes home a bag of locally composted horse manure.

Race-morning registration closes shortly before the start, so you can decide on the spot if you are on the fence. The fairgrounds serve as the start area, which gives the whole thing an agricultural backdrop before the race gets underway.
