About the Beat Beethoven 5k Run/Walk

The course runs out and back along the Euchee Creek Greenway Trail inside Patriot's Park. It is a certified route on paved trail, and singers from the Augusta Choral Society cheer you on from the sidelines. Costumes with a musical or Beethoven theme are encouraged, which gives the start line a different energy than most morning races.

Packet pickup the evening before is at the concession stand near one of the park's baseball fields. On race morning, parking is near another field just inside the William Few Pkwy entrance, and check-in opens before the gun goes off. The start and finish are at the Euchee Creek Greenway Trail sign by that same entrance.

Common Questions About the Beat Beethoven 5k Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Beat Beethoven 5k Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:44, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:00:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Beat Beethoven 5k Run/Walk a good first 5K?

It is a small race (57 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Beat Beethoven 5k Run/Walk?

The 5K winner ran 23:07 while the median finisher took 36:44. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
