About the Batavia United Way Bat Race 5K & 10K
The course runs along the Fox River Bike Path, starting in downtown Batavia where two main streets meet near the river. It is a road race on a paved path beside the water, flat enough that walkers show up alongside runners without anyone thinking twice about it. The race has a Halloween theme, and costumes are common enough that there are prizes for them.
Packet pickup happens the evening before the race at a local brewery, with a race-morning option at the start area tent. The morning itself tends toward the festive side: there is music, snacks, and a crowd that skews more neighborhood than serious-competitor.
