The course runs through Oakwood Naturist Resort, which means the surroundings are wooded and private, and clothing is optional for everyone on the course. It draws people who are there for the whole weekend, not just the race, so the atmosphere around the start line is unhurried and a little different from a road 5K in a parking lot.
