About the Bangor Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K - Running Festival

The course starts at the corner of Main and Dutton streets and heads out through the city toward the town of Kenduskeag before turning back to finish at Bangor Waterfront Park. The half follows the same road out to a turnaround on outer Broadway. Both routes are paved and point-to-point in feel, with the river park as a landing spot at the end.

There is no time limit on either distance, which makes the course genuinely open to a wide range of paces. Personal bottles can be dropped at the operations tent near the start and will be waiting at the water stations along the route. A vendor area sets up at the finish for runners and whoever came to watch.

Common Questions About the Bangor Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K - Running Festival

Will I finish last at the Bangor Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K - Running Festival?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:13:31, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:38:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Bangor Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K - Running Festival a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (135 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Bangor Marathon - Full/Half/10K/5K - Running Festival?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:21:01 while the median finisher took 2:13:31. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
