About the Backyard Ultra in New Town (Oct 10 8:00AM)
The course is a backyard ultra, meaning you run the same loop repeatedly, with a fixed window to finish each before the next one starts. The loop winds through New Town, a planned community in Saint Charles, and the amphitheater there serves as the start and finish point for every lap. Last person still going wins. There is also a rucking division running a shorter loop under the same rules.
The amphitheater area has restrooms and open space where runners set up between laps, rest, and eat. Several restaurants, a coffee shop, and ice cream spots are within reach of the start, so resupply options are genuinely close. A portion of every lap buy-in goes to support research for a rare disease affecting a child connected to the race organizers.
