About the Autumn March for ALS

The course starts at the Downtown Farmers Market and runs through Dyersburg's Square, the same ground this race has called home since it began. The route stays in the heart of downtown, so there is city around you the whole way. The event raises money for ALS awareness, local scholarships, and a local nonprofit, and the morning behind the race has a personal weight to it.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at Holy Angels Catholic Church. On race day, the square fills out with food trucks, vendors, an auto show, a DJ, and activities for kids, so there is plenty going on after you finish.

Common Questions About the Autumn March for ALS

Will I finish last at the Autumn March for ALS?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3 Miles field finished slower than 34:29, and the last recorded finisher came in around 50:41, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Autumn March for ALS a good first 3 Miles?

It is a small race (45 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Autumn March for ALS?

The 3 Miles winner ran 19:37 while the median finisher took 34:29. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
